Timeless Transitional

Westport, Connecticut

Stephanie Rapp Interiors won a 2021 HOBI Award for this project for Outstanding Interior Design Full Home Renovation.

As seen in New England Home magazine, this timeless kitchen renovation was designed to better fit the client’s lifestyle, who lives with Multiple Sclerosis, without sacrificing style.

The whole design is centered around wheelchair accessibility. Since the client likes to cook, we kept a large open area on the island for easy access to the cooktop and prep sink, lowered the island’s counter height to 33”, and included a tall wall cabinet that extends to the counter for easy access to dishes. The desk area was also designed with large openings for wheelchair access, and its built-in bookshelf extends to the counter for easy access.

For a clean, classic look, we used white Rockport style cabinets from Wood-Mode and added some
contemporary flair with frameless textured laminate on the island.
